I have lived in Roanoke for over 35 years. In addition to my love of psychiatric medicine, I love playing golf and drumming in my spare time. Co-workers have lovingly dubbed me G2, and I am the founder of both Walnut Avenue Associates and Avenues to Recovery. I am board certified in addiction psychiatry as well as adult and geriatric psychiatry. I enjoy helping people help themselves.
Hi, my name is Erika Hayden! I am a clinician for Avenues to Wellness outpatient program in Roanoke, Virginia. I am a proud Virginia Tech Hokie, having received my master's degree in counselor education in 2005. Prior to counseling, I went to VCU and earned my undergraduate degree in fashion merchandising. I worked in the NYC fashion industry for two years. After realizing this was not my true passion, I decided to go back to school to become a counselor. I love being a counselor and I feel it’s a privilege to help others through different chapters of their lives. I have nine years of counseling experience working with adolescents, adults, and their families, specializing in substance abuse, anger management, and suicide prevention. I also have a wonderful dog Stella who offers pet therapy upon request. Outside of work, I like to stay active. I enjoy running and have completed two marathons and a few half marathons. I like to snowboard, kayak, and I recently started CrossFit. My vices are sugar, coffee, and shopping. I’m excited to be a part of ncgCARE’s family and I look forward to getting to know each of you!
You have the power to make positive changes, you just need to find the right person to help provide a safe and supportive environment to guide and encourage you to your inner strength. I will help you face your fears, negative thoughts and behavior patterns and develop a greater awareness to feel more empowered and create the change you desire in living a more fulfilled life.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with thirteen years of experience in the mental health field working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of settings including community service agencies, foster care agencies, and public schools. Areas of specialty include depression, stress, anxiety, grief and loss, anger, behaviors, and adjustment issues.
I worked for over 20 years in the nursing field before going to Jefferson College of Health Sciences to train as a Physician Assistant. I have also taken some graduate-masters courses in health sciences education at Virginia Tech. In my leisure time, I enjoy being with family and friends, exercising, reading, cooking, and occasionally skydiving.
My name is Sarah Rodes. I earned my physician assistant degree from Mountain State University in 1996. I have lived in the Roanoke area for 5 years and I have been working as a psychiatric PA since 2006. I like to travel and spend time with family, friends, and my dog Hippie. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and enjoying a good shot of espresso.
